Authenticated code execution via unrestricted profile image upload
Published Sep 27, 2022 · Updated May 21, 2025
Unrestricted file upload in Exam Reviewer Management System 1.0 allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary code. The profile update handler at /erms/classes/Users.php?f=save accepts a multipart img field containing PHP and places it in the web-accessible uploads directory without rejecting the dangerous file type. Administrative-panel authentication is required; requesting the uploaded script executes supplied commands under the web server account.
