CVE-2022-40864Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Code execution via unchecked time parsing

Published Sep 23, 2022 · Updated May 22, 2025

A stack overflow in Tenda AC15 and AC18 firmware 15.03.05.19 allows remote attackers to execute code or crash the router. The setSmartPowerManagement handler parses the HTTP time parameter with unbounded sscanf conversions into small stack variables, then formats the results with unbounded sprintf calls. Public records disagree on the gate: the official assessment treats the request as unauthenticated, but both published proofs first log in as administrator.
