SQL injection via unescaped IN values
Published Oct 7, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
SQL injection in CodeIgniter 3.1.13 and earlier allows remote attackers to alter database queries through the or_where_in() query-builder function. The function builds an SQL IN predicate from caller-supplied values without adequate neutralization, allowing injected syntax to reach the database when application code passes attacker-controlled input. Exploitation requires a network-reachable application that exposes this query path; the CVE record is disputed by multiple parties, and actual impact depends on the surrounding application and database permissions.
