SQL injection via concatenated query field names
Published Oct 7, 2022 · Updated Apr 9, 2025
SQL injection in CodeIgniter 3.1.13 and earlier allows remote attackers to alter database queries through attacker-controlled field names. The or_where_not_in() path passes its field-name argument into _wh_in(), which concatenates it into the IN clause while escaping only values. The upstream issue states that exploitation requires application code to accept query fields from a client, and the CVE record notes that multiple third parties dispute the claim.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
