Code execution via uncontrolled dependency package
Published Sep 19, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Dependency confusion in d8s-ip-addresses 0.1.0 allows remote attackers to execute code through the democritus-hypothesis package. The package metadata declares a democritus-hypothesis dependency whose PyPI name was outside the maintainer's control, causing installation to resolve code published under that name. The issue is reached during package installation, and arbitrary dependency code runs with the installing process's privileges rather than through a service endpoint.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
