CVE-2022-40746

Local code execution via DLL search order hijacking

Published Nov 21, 2022 · Updated Apr 24, 2025

DLL search order hijacking in IBM Access Client Solutions 1.1.2 through 1.1.4 and 1.1.4.3 through 1.1.9.0 allows local users to execute code. Certain Windows features using native code search a compromised folder for a DLL and load a crafted library ahead of the intended file. Exploitation requires local authentication, high privileges, control of that folder, and user interaction; successful loading runs arbitrary code in the affected feature's security context.
