CVE-2022-40743Network attack vector

Cross-site scripting via HTML-typed probe output

Published Dec 19, 2022 · Updated Apr 17, 2025

Cross-site scripting in the xdebug plugin in Apache Traffic Server 9.0.0 through 9.1.3 allows remote attackers to poison cached content. When probe mode adds request and response headers to a response body, the plugin preserves an origin text/html Content-Type, causing injected data to be interpreted as active HTML. The global xdebug plugin and probe functionality must be enabled, and script execution requires a user to load the altered response.
