CVE-2022-40683

Local code execution via pipe double free

Published Feb 16, 2023 · Updated Oct 23, 2024

Double free in the Fortinet FortiWeb 7.0.0 through 7.0.3 CLI allows local users to execute arbitrary code via crafted commands. The CLI pipe-management code releases the same memory allocation twice while processing specially crafted commands. A valid authenticated local CLI session is required; the bounded consequence is unauthorized code or command execution on the appliance.
