Service interruption via untrusted revocation URLs

Denial of service in strongSwan before 5.9.8 allows remote attackers to interrupt the IKE daemon through crafted certificates. The credential manager performs inline OCSP and CRL lookups from certificate-provided URLs before the chain is trusted, and fetched response data has no size limit. Exploitation requires the revocation plugin or a similar custom validator; repeated IKE initiations can block all worker threads, while oversized responses can exhaust memory and terminate the daemon.
