Unauthenticated memory corruption via unchecked audio copy
Published Aug 8, 2023 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Memory corruption in Qualcomm Snapdragon audio firmware allows remote attackers to corrupt memory during an EVS voice call. The audio path copies attacker-controlled input without first validating its size, allowing the copy to exceed the intended buffer. Reachability requires an active voice call using the EVS vocoder; successful exploitation can compromise firmware confidentiality, integrity, and availability.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.

Attacks
What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
