Unauthenticated SQL injection via unsanitized AJAX id
Published Jan 2, 2023 · Updated Apr 10, 2025
SQL injection in Prashant Walke WP User 7.0 and earlier allows remote attackers to manipulate queries through the public AJAX endpoint. The wpuser_group_action handler inserts the user-controlled id parameter into an SQL statement without sanitization, escaping, or parameterization. No account is required, but the attacker must retrieve the wpuser_update_setting nonce from the public Sign Up page; a time-delay query demonstrates database query control.
