User enumeration via early authentication return
Published Apr 25, 2023 · Updated Feb 3, 2025
Timing side channel in Laravel Framework 8 before 8.83.24 and 9 before 9.32.0 allows remote attackers to enumerate registered users. SessionGuard::hasValidCredentials skips credential validation and validation-event work when no user is found, producing a shorter response than for an existing account. Exploitation requires an HTTP/2 login endpoint and paired multiplexed requests; exposed account identifiers can support password attacks.
