CVE-2022-4048

Compiled-code disclosure and modification via weak encryption

Published May 15, 2023 · Updated Jan 23, 2025

Weak boot-application encryption in CODESYS Development System V3 before 3.5.18.40 allows local users to read and alter compiled code. The Runtime Key and Wibu-System CodeMeter dongle or flash-card encryption mode protects boot applications with weak cryptography. Exposure requires local access to a boot-application file protected with optional license-management encryption; X.509-protected projects are unaffected.
