Unauthenticated command execution via unsanitized GET data
Published Sep 29, 2022 · Updated May 21, 2025
Command injection in TOTOLINK A860R firmware 4.1.2cu.5182_B20201027 allows remote attackers to execute OS commands via downloadFile.cgi. The handler splits GET-derived path data, interpolates the resulting values into an echo command with sprintf, and passes that command directly to system without neutralizing shell metacharacters. No authentication or user interaction is required, and successful exploitation grants command execution in the router firmware context.
