Code execution via uncontrolled dependency name
Published Sep 19, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Dependency confusion in d8s-pdfs 0.1.0 allows attackers to execute arbitrary code through a malicious democritus-networking package. The release metadata declares a dependency name outside the maintainer's control, allowing an attacker-supplied package to be resolved and executed during installation. Exploitation requires installation from an index that selects the attacker-controlled dependency, and the code runs with the installer's privileges.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
