Code execution via dependency confusion package installation
Published Sep 19, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Supply-chain code execution in d8s-domains 0.1.0 allows attackers to run third-party package code through a hijacked PyPI dependency. The release declares democritus-networking, a public package name outside the maintainer's control, so pip resolves and installs third-party code. Installing that exact release is the gate; the available report establishes arbitrary-code placement but documents no malicious payload or post-install activity.
