Service interruption via repeated RSA key generation

Published Sep 15, 2022 · Updated Oct 16, 2024

Denial of service in ECI Printanista Hub before 5.5.2 allows remote attackers to interrupt the web service by repeatedly requesting /Login. Each rendering of /Login generates and stores a new RSA key pair, so inexpensive unauthenticated requests force costly prime-number generation and consume server resources. No authentication or user interaction is required; repeated requests can exhaust the server and make the application unavailable.
