Application crash via oversized XML counter overflow
Published Nov 22, 2022 · Updated Apr 29, 2025
Integer overflow in libxml2 before 2.10.3 allows remote attackers to crash XML-processing applications via oversized XML input. With XML_PARSE_HUGE enabled, parser.c lets multiple length counters wrap and then indexes an array at a negative 2 GB offset. The application must enable that parser option and accept a multi-gigabyte document; the documented consequence is a segmentation-fault service interruption.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
