Reflected XSS via unescaped forum cookie
Published Nov 29, 2022 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Reflected XSS in Simple:Press Forum 6.8 and earlier allows remote attackers to execute scripts through a crafted forum cookie. The plugin reads the sforum_[MD5 hash of the WordPress URL] cookie without sufficient sanitization and emits it into a page without output escaping. Exploitation requires an attacker to set the cookie for a target and induce that user to load the affected page; script execution occurs in that user's browser.
