Stored XSS via unsanitized profile signature
Published Nov 29, 2022 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Stored cross-site scripting in Simple:Press Forum through 6.8 allows remote authenticated users to execute scripts via profile signatures. The profile-save handler accepts the postitem parameter without sufficient sanitization or output escaping, allowing object and embed tags to persist in a signature. A subscriber-level account can inject the payload, which executes when another user views the affected page.
