CVE-2022-40264

Arbitrary file modification via PKGX path traversal

Published Dec 13, 2022 · Updated Apr 18, 2025

Path traversal in GENESIS64 10.96 through 10.97.2 allows attackers to alter arbitrary files through a crafted project package. The PKGX parser uses the user-controlled Name element in file operations without validating that the resolved path remains in the intended directory. Exploitation requires a legitimate user to import the package and permits files accessible to the importing process to be created, modified, or deleted.
