CVE-2022-40259Network attack vector

Root code execution via Redfish path injection

Published Dec 5, 2022 · Updated Apr 23, 2025

Command injection in MegaRAC SP-X allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary code through a crafted Redfish API path parameter. A user-exposed Redfish handler embeds the undecoded path in a Bash command, so shell metacharacters execute with UID 0 privileges. Affected releases are 0 through SPx12-update-6.00 and 0 through SPx13-update-4.00; reachability requires a BMC account with Callback privileges or higher, and successful exploitation grants a root shell on the management controller.
