Credential recovery via low-cost password hashing

Password hashing weakness in AMI MegaRAC SP-X through SPx12 Update 6.00 or SPx13 Update 4.00 allows attackers to crack BMC credentials. The Redfish and generic API authentication uses MD5 with a global salt on older devices or SHA-512 with per-user salts on newer devices, making offline guesses comparatively inexpensive. Exploitation requires access to the BMC or a stolen password file and cannot be performed remotely; the bounded consequence is faster recovery of plaintext credentials.
