CVE-2022-40189Network attack vector

Remote command execution via connection-extra CLI arguments

Published Nov 22, 2022 · Updated Apr 29, 2025

OS command injection in Apache Airflow before 2.3.0 with Pig Provider before 4.0.0 allows remote attackers to execute task commands. PigCliHook reads pig_properties from connection extras, splits the string, and appends the resulting tokens to the Pig CLI argument vector. No DAG-file write access is required; command execution inherits the task's privileges and can read, alter, or disrupt task-accessible resources.
