CVE-2022-40182Network attack vector

Root browser execution via unsandboxed Chromium

Published Oct 11, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

Execution with unnecessary privileges in Siemens Desigo PXM and PXG3 devices before fixed firmware builds allows remote authenticated users to execute code through Operation graphics. The embedded Chromium browser runs as root with --no-sandbox, so attacker-supplied JavaScript inherits root privileges and can leverage browser vulnerabilities for full device compromise. Access requires low-privileged network authentication to the device web application; Siemens reports confidentiality, integrity, and availability impact.
