CVE-2022-40150Network attack vector

Process interruption via unbounded parser memory growth

Published Sep 16, 2022 · Updated Apr 21, 2025

Uncontrolled resource consumption in Jettison 1.4.0 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to crash parsers with crafted input. The JSON object parser accepts attacker-controlled structures without bounding memory growth, exhausting the Java heap and raising OutOfMemoryError. Exposure requires a consuming application to pass user-supplied XML or JSON to the library; the consequence is process interruption, not data access or modification.
