Maintenance-request injection via certificate validation failure
Published Oct 11, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Improper certificate validation in Siemens Industrial Edge Management before 1.5.1 allows man-in-the-middle attackers to inject maintenance requests. When IEM initiates TLS to the Industrial Edge Hub, it accepts a crafted server certificate without properly validating the server identity. An unauthenticated attacker positioned in the communication path can impersonate the hub and inject requests involving statistics, remote support, onboarding keys, or extensions.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
