File disclosure via permitted JAR script URLs
Published Sep 22, 2022 · Updated Nov 3, 2025
SSRF in Apache XML Graphics Batik 1.0 through 1.14 allows remote attackers to read files through a crafted JAR URL in an SVG. DefaultScriptSecurity accepts the JAR scheme for script references instead of rejecting it, so Batik follows the archive URL while processing the SVG. Exploitation requires script execution on load and application/java-archive to be allowed; the reported consequence is unauthorized file disclosure.
