SYSTEM code execution via junction-following file creation
Published Sep 19, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Link-following in Trend Micro Apex One 2019 and SaaS servers allows local users to execute arbitrary code with elevated privileges. The Local Web Classification Service follows an attacker-created junction and creates a file at the junction-selected location. Exploitation requires low-privileged code execution on the Windows server and user interaction, after which code runs as SYSTEM.
