CVE-2022-40127Network attack vector

Authenticated command execution via templated run ID

Published Nov 14, 2022 · Updated Apr 30, 2025

Code injection in Apache Airflow before 2.4.0 allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary commands through an Example DAG. The example_bash_operator DAG inserts the manually supplied run_id into a BashOperator command template without shell-safe handling. A user with UI access and permission to trigger that DAG can run commands with the task worker privileges.
