CVE-2022-40082Public exploitNetwork attack vector

File disclosure via unnormalized Windows backslashes

Published Sep 28, 2022 · Updated May 21, 2025

Path traversal in CloudWeGo Hertz before 0.3.1 allows remote attackers to read files outside the static-file root on Windows. The normalizePath function decodes request paths but fails to convert Windows backslashes to forward slashes before removing traversal segments. An unauthenticated request to an application using Static or StaticFS can therefore expose any file readable by the Hertz process.
