CVE-2022-4008

Service interruption via zip-bomb task expansion

Published May 10, 2023 · Updated Jan 28, 2025

Uncontrolled resource consumption in affected Octopus Tentacle releases allows attackers to interrupt its service by uploading a zip-bomb task. Tentacle expands attacker-supplied task content into excessive resource use; Octopus Deploy has not identified the responsible code path or missing limit. Execution requires the crafted task to reach an affected Tentacle; the documented consequence is denial of service, with no confidentiality or integrity impact.
