Remote service reboot via stack overflow
Published Sep 19, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Buffer overflow in Tenda AC21 firmware 16.03.08.15 allows remote attackers to interrupt service via crafted HTTP requests. The /bin/httpd formSetQosBand handler passes the list parameter to set_qosMib_list, which copies it with strcpy into a stack buffer without bounds checking, causing a stack overflow and httpd reboot. The management endpoint must be reachable over the network; the documented effect is service interruption, with no demonstrated confidentiality or integrity impact.
