Man-in-the-middle feed tampering via missing certificate validation
Published Feb 16, 2023 · Updated Oct 22, 2024
Improper certificate validation in Fortinet FortiOS and FortiProxy allows remote attackers to intercept configured HTTPS threat feeds. The Fabric connector accepts a threat-feed server certificate without properly validating it, enabling an on-path server impersonation. Exploitation requires a configured remote threat feed and an on-path network position; attackers can read or alter feed content in transit.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=6.0.0 <=6.0.16
- Affected versionversion=6.2.0 <=6.2.12
- Affected versionversion=6.4.0 <=6.4.11
- Affected versionversion=7.0.0 <=7.0.7
