Heap overflow in Samsung Mobile Devices before SMR Dec-2022 Release 1 allows local users to perform an out-of-bounds write during thumbnail decoding. The libsadapter library on Android 10 and 11 and libsthmbcadapter on Android 12 and 13 decode video thumbnails without sufficient input validation or protection against a time-of-check/time-of-use race. Local access and crafted thumbnail-processing input are required; successful exploitation can corrupt heap memory, while Samsung does not report code execution.
