Out-of-bounds memory read via SIB12 PDU
Published Nov 9, 2022 · Updated May 1, 2025
Improper input validation in Exynos modems before SMR Nov-2022 Release 1 allows remote attackers to trigger an out-of-bounds memory read. The SIB12 PDU processing path fails to validate attacker-controlled fields before reading modem memory beyond the intended buffer. The attack requires adjacent-network access and no privileges or user interaction; the resulting read can interrupt modem service.
