Contributor-level stored XSS via shortcode attributes
Published Dec 19, 2022 · Updated Apr 17, 2025
WP Stripe Checkout before 1.2.2.21 allows remote authenticated users with contributor-level access to execute stored cross-site scripts through crafted shortcode attributes. The plugin fails to validate and escape selected shortcode attributes before returning them in rendered pages, so attacker-controlled markup is stored and executed when a page is viewed. Exploitation requires permission to create or edit shortcode-bearing content and a victim to load the affected page; the demonstrated impact is script execution in that viewer's browser, enabling data access or actions available to that session.
