Code execution via OBJ parser memory corruption
Published Oct 11, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Memory corruption in SAP 3D Visual Enterprise Author 9 allows remote attackers to execute code by inducing a user to open a crafted OBJ file. The ObjTranslator.exe OBJ parser fails to validate an object's existence before operating on it, enabling use-after-free access to overwritten memory or a stack-based overflow. Execution requires user interaction and runs in the affected process; without an exploit chain, the flaw discloses sensitive memory.
