CVE-2022-39381Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Process crash via unreadable appended PDF stream

Published Nov 2, 2022 · Updated Apr 22, 2025

Denial of service in MuhammaraJS before 2.6.0 allows attackers to crash a consuming Node.js process by appending a crafted PDF. PDFDocumentHandler::WriteStreamObject fails to check whether StartReadingFromStreamForPlainCopying returned null before entering the stream-copy loop. A consuming application must pass an untrusted PDF to appendPDFPagesFromPDF; exploitation terminates the hosting process without reported data disclosure or modification.
