Restricted topic-title disclosure via user badges
Published Nov 2, 2022 · Updated Apr 23, 2025
Information disclosure in Discourse 2.8.9 and earlier and 2.9.0.beta10 and earlier allows remote attackers to read restricted topic titles. The user-badge display renders its associated topic title without enforcing the topic's access restriction. No account or user interaction is required, but a badge linked to activity in a restricted topic must already exist, and only its title is disclosed.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
