CVE-2022-39369Network attack vector

Account takeover via header-derived service URLs

Published Nov 1, 2022 · Updated Apr 23, 2025

Authentication bypass in Apereo phpCAS before 1.6.0 allows remote authenticated users to access victim accounts via a forged Host header. The client derives the ticket-validation service URL from attacker-controlled Host and forwarded-host headers instead of binding it to a configured base URL. Exploitation requires a valid ticket for an authorized service in the same CAS realm and a logged-in victim to visit an attacker-controlled site; the result is access to that victim's account.
