Authenticated SQL execution via auto-run query hash
Published Oct 26, 2022 · Updated Apr 23, 2025
Affected Metabase releases allow remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary SQL by opening a crafted question URL. The query-builder initialization path decodes an unsaved native query from the URL hash and runs it whenever canRun() succeeds, without requiring an explicit Run action. The user must hold native-query permission and open the crafted URL; the query then executes with the configured database connection privileges.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
