Database service interruption via oversized display names
Published Nov 25, 2022 · Updated Apr 23, 2025
Resource exhaustion in affected Nextcloud Server releases allows remote authenticated users to interrupt the backing database. The provisioning API display-name update path passes strings longer than 64 characters to the database instead of rejecting them, provoking SQL errors during persistence. A logged-in account able to edit a display name is required; repeated oversized updates can disrupt database-backed service without reported data disclosure or modification.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
