Command execution via PowerShell argument dequoting

OS command injection in Microsoft Azure CLI before 2.40.0 allows remote attackers to execute commands through externally supplied arguments. The Windows az.cmd entry script passes PowerShell-stripped arguments to cmd.exe without preserving quotes, so & or | is interpreted as command syntax. Exploitation requires Windows, PowerShell, and an externally controlled parameter containing either metacharacter; injected commands run with the hosting process's privileges.
