Client memory disclosure via unchecked ZGFX offset
Published Nov 16, 2022 · Updated Apr 23, 2025
Out-of-bounds read in FreeRDP before 2.9.0 allows remote authenticated users to disclose client memory via a malicious RDP server. The ZGFX decoder fails to range-check an input offset index and then reads and decodes bytes outside the supplied segment. Exploitation requires a client user to connect to an attacker-controlled RDP server; the resulting impact is limited to unintended memory disclosure or a client failure, with no demonstrated write capability.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
