CVE-2022-39314Network attack vector

User enumeration via uncaught authentication challenge errors

Published Oct 24, 2022 · Updated Jan 30, 2026

User enumeration in affected Kirby 3.x releases allows remote attackers to identify registered accounts through code-based authentication. The login and password-reset challenge handler exposes exceptions for valid users when challenge creation or user.login:failed hook processing fails, while nonexistent users follow a fake challenge path. Reachability requires a code or password-reset authentication method plus a challenge or hook error, or production debugging that reveals authentication errors.
