Service interruption via unrestricted log injection
Published Oct 7, 2022 · Updated Apr 22, 2025
Uncontrolled resource consumption in ZoneMinder before 1.36.27 and 1.37.0 through 1.37.23 allows remote authenticated users to interrupt service. The web/ajax/log.php log-creation handler accepts repeated POST requests from users with only View permission and stores each supplied entry without rate limiting. Sustained submissions can degrade database performance or exhaust storage, but require a valid low-privilege account and do not disclose data.
