Client memory disclosure via oversized parallel read

Published Oct 12, 2022 · Updated Nov 3, 2025

Information disclosure in FreeRDP clients 2.8.0 and earlier allows remote attackers to read client memory via parallel port redirection. The parallel_process_irp_read function allocates the requested Length, reads fewer bytes from the redirected file, but returns the full buffer rather than the read count. Exposure requires a Unix client launched with /parallel and an active connection to the attacker's RDP server; server implementations are unaffected.
