CVE-2022-39280Network attack vector

Denial of service via inefficient regex

Published Oct 6, 2022 · Updated Apr 23, 2025

Regular expression denial of service in dparse before 0.5.2 allows remote attackers to interrupt parsing via crafted index server URLs. The parser applies a backtracking-prone regular expression to index server URL text, causing excessive CPU consumption on crafted input. Remote attackers who can cause a dependent service to parse a crafted requirements source can consume CPU and delay or halt parsing; standalone local use is not remotely reachable.
