CVE-2022-39268Network attack vector

User-instance control via cookies lacking SameSite

Published Sep 30, 2022 · Updated Apr 23, 2025

Cross-site request forgery in Orchest 2022.03.7 through 2022.09.9 allows remote attackers to control a user instance via crafted web requests. The auth server's login and logout handlers set auth_token and auth_username cookies without a SameSite restriction, so browsers attach them to cross-site requests. An authenticated user must be induced to submit the request, after which the attacker can perform actions with that user's session, including changing session or account state and exposing client or server data.
